With a new year, a new location in Brody Hall and a number of brand new international student clubs, this year’s Global Festival event faced a lot of changes. But just like always, the extraordinary displays and performances put on by students from all over the world made for the same incredible community event.

On Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, Global Festival took over the first floor of Brody Hall – changing hallways into pathways across the world; an auditorium into a show boasting acts like Chinese yo-yo tossing or Armenian group dances; and classrooms into an international marketplace of beautiful and unique gifts. Thousands came from across campus, the greater Lansing community, or even as far as Grand Rapids or Ann Arbor to join in the festivities of the day.

The Global Festival is a unique event because it not only brings together people from all over the world to interact with and learn from each other, but it also brought together staff members from all across campus and the MSU community who worked to make the event a success. From staff in Residence Education and Hospitality Services to the members of Community Volunteers for International Programs (CVIP), friends in the MSU Parking Office or our stellar student volunteers, OISS had some amazing partners in putting on the Global Festival this year.

Throughout the many changes, we hope everyone had fun attending the Global Festival. We were definitely very impressed by our students, the community volunteers and the amazing diversity, energy and talent displayed throughout the day. We weren’t the only ones impressed by Global Festival—check out the Global Festival in the news!
