Go Green! Go White!

Sure, you’ve heard it before, but if you were walking around campus last weekend you would have heard it approximately every 2.3 seconds. It was Homecoming at MSU last week and to celebrate OISS held Life in the U.S. – College Sports to highlight the amazing sports culture we have here on campus. The American football game held later that weekend against the University of Wisconsin proved to be one of the greatest college football games of the year and perhaps all time (see video below for highlights).

Even before Saturday’s game, the students who came to our program were lucky to have six MSU student athletes come speak about their experiences. The athletes shared how intense their time commitment is (full-time school along with several hours of practice/weight lifting each week) and also spoke about the path they took to where they are today. Following the student-athlete panel the students learned more about sports culture including info on tailgating, marching band, mascots, and the different sports on campus. Additionally, all students were given a “beginner’s guide to American football” packet to help explain the rules.

This was OISS’s second Life in the U.S. program this semester. The series will continue with Life in the U.S. – Coping with the “Winter Blues” where experts from MSU will be on hand to provide tips for managing the cold dark winters here on campus. This will be held on November 9 at 11:30 AM. Lunch is provided at all Life in the U.S. programs and registration is required ahead of time. Please register at:
