As we launch our new website and gear up for Fall 2011, OISS is pleased to announce a blog dedicated specifically to Experiential Learning and Career Development opportunities.

Michigan State University has a wonderful Career Services Network, and many academic units on campus have their own Career Services hub and/or Field Service Consultants ready to assist you with questions you have about employment in the United States and in your home country. Please visit Career Services.

Throughout the semester, there will be many opportunities for you to be a part of “mock” job interviews, learn how to build a better resume, and events where you can meet prospective employers.

For our part at OISS, we will host several sessions throughout the semester explaining your work authorization options such as Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training  (OPT).

Other experiential learning topics that we will present in this blog include internships, service learning , and undergraduate research.

In an increasingly competitive global workplace, it is important for students to explore a wide range of experiences during their time at MSU.

I hope that you will continue to follow this blog and let us know when there are topics you would like to know more about.
